I bet when you think of chalk, the first thing that comes to mind is that one teacher that always made you write sentences on the board 25xs. Or playing hopscotch on the sidewalk. Those were the good ole days, or shall I say ole days.
Today, chalkboards are used for may things, from its classic use as a menu sign for restaurants or small town classrooms. Not sure it they have converted all classrooms into using dry erase boards. Maybe I should look into that. Any who.
Let's add a little flavor to your next party or social gathering by turning that bland tray you were going to use to serve drinks, into a chalkboard guide to goodness.

Set up your project OUTSIDE, for enough ventilation.
- Ensure that the surface of the tray is clean and clear of any dirt.
- Line the edges where you don't want the paint to get on.
- Using the exacto knife, cut around the inside edges for the design you want on your tray. If it is a regular square tray, you can cut directly along the edges for a perfect line.
- Once you have your edges covered and cut to your liking. using the paint, paint over the tray in one direction and let dry, usually takes about an hour. After it has dries, paint in the SAME direction.
- After the second coat has dried, go over once more in the OPPOSITE direction, let dry.
- Give it just one more minute, you know how we can get when we can't wait to see a finished product that we created.
- Now that it has dried, remove the tape and PRESTO! You now have a Chalkboard Tray crafted by you!
- Design as you would like.
