Even though there are so many posting for everything, you have to be careful which ones you choose to act on. Especially when it comes to looking for a job. Many people go to Craigslist for easy find jobs where they can get in quick, even at home jobs. Those are the ones you have to be careful of because they could be a scam.
Many of the scamming post you may reply to will have a response that ask you to fill out a brief application of some sort that includes your name, birthday, address and sometimes your SOCIAL SECURITY number.
NEVER SEND YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TO ANYONE THROUGH EMAIL. EVER!
Some may say that they are out of town and they will properly interview you when they return. They want you to purchase items for working and pick up items and they want to send you a check to cover the cost, which includes your first check. Only thing is when you get the check it is from a company that has nothing to do which the business you are working for. Most times you don't even get the name of who your really working for.
It is important to ask questions, so you can be sure that they are legit. Asking their name, company and phone number; then Google them! You can even sometimes be able to find out if they are real by looking for an active Facebook profile, if your going for a personal assistant position. This is just a warning to avoid any criminal acts like "check fraud."
Another thing you should be careful of are ads for purchasing costly items such as cars; making sure when the exchange happens you are accompanied with someone, have a phone for any emergencies, it is daylight (do not do any transaction after dark), and you have details about what your getting.
Now I'm not saying that everything on craigslist is a scam, just some.
BE CAREFUL is all I'm sayin!
